Skyblivion is a volunteer-based project
We aim to bring The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to a new generation of gamers and re-introduce it to long time fans of the series. We are currently in the process of rebuilding Cyrodiil along with all of its quests, locations and characters into Skyrim: Special Edition.
Upon release, Skyblivion will include all enhancements developed by the team such as our Landscaping Overhaul, Interior Overhaul, City Overhaul, Weapon/Armor Overhaul and much more.
SKYBLIVION will be 100% FREE, but in order to play, we require our users to own both Skyrim: Special Edition and Oblivion GOTY Deluxe. Without these requirements our installer will not install Skyblivion.
Short history
The development of SKYBLIVION officially started in 2012, when Zilav created what we now call version 0.1. This was a great tech demo but nothing more, the world was very buggy and was missing a lot of content. Not much later, Ormin (now known as Monocleus) joined the project after seeing what Zilav had done, and started working on the more technical aspects of the mod. In 2014, Zilav and Monocleus managed to provide a stable base game for others to work with and help with the development. Around this time Rebelzize joined the project handling the PR, this was when the development and general interest about the project started to drastically increase.
More devs joined which resulted in the 0.3 DEV release which included new flora by 3AMt, FaceGen and a lot of fixes that made working on the mod a lot easier. In the month of November 2016, Rebelzize started to send out invites on “Nexusmods” in the hope of more volunteers. More people joined and not much later the ‘’Skyblivion – Return To Cyrodiil’’ trailer was published (with well over 1.2 million views currently) resulting into an influx of new volunteers.
These new volunteers along with the core staff are currently developing the mod and making progress on a daily basis.
Development Timeline

Development of Skyblivion started when Zilav created a converter that converts Oblivion's data into data that can be read by Skyrim's Engine.

Monocleus joins Zilav to create a stable release as a base for developers to build upon. Rebelzize also joins at this time to help with RP and Skyblivion's public interest slowly increases.

More volunteers joined which resulted in the 0.3 internal release. Lost of features and fixes were added which resulted in Skyblivion being easier to work on. Skyblivion 0.3 was the final version of the port.

In November 2016 Rebelzize sent out invites on Nexusmods hoping for new volunteers. Not much later the "Skyblivion - Return to Cyrodiil" trailer was published, Both resulting in more volunteers joining. The remake officially starts, Transitioning away from the port.

The trailer showcased the teams vision of remaking Oblivion. After this released the project really picked up with a lot of skilful volunteers joining the team and progress increased dramatically.

This showcased all aspects of Skyblivion and gave the community a preview of development and the progress the team has made since the end of 2016. Due to the love of this format by the community this later turned in to a series with 6 episodes to date.
This trailer set the release goal of 2025. Which is the date that the team felt that releasing Skyblivion would be possible by. The trailer also showed off many unseen areas and boosted progress drastically with more people joining to help push the project over the line.

At this point we still had the base and the remake. Robert joined the team and took over control of the build and successfully merged the two versions of Skyblivion in to one. This increased productivity tenfold with only needing one version of the build to be maintained.

With the release looming the team released gameplay of the beginning of the game, The first time the community had seen it. This showcased the combat, level design, menus and much more. Providing a look in to how Skyblivion will play on release.
