Skyblivion is a volunteer-based project by the TESRenewal modding group
We aim to bring The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to a new generation of gamers and re-introduce it to long time fans of the series. We are currently in the process of porting and rebuilding Cyrodiil along with all of its quests, locations and characters into Skyrim: Special Edition.
Upon release, our mod will include all enhancements developed by the team such as our Landscaping Overhaul, Interior Overhaul, City Overhaul, Weapon/Armor Overhaul and much more.
SKYBLIVION will be 100% FREE, but in order to play, we require our users to own both Skyrim: Special Edition and Oblivion including the DLCs. Without these requirements our installer will not install the mod.
Short history
The development of SKYBLIVION officially started in 2012, when our lead developer Zilav created what we now call version 0.1. This was a great tech demo but nothing more, the world was very buggy and was missing a lot of content. Not much later, Ormin (now known as Monocleus) joined the project after seeing what Zilav had done, and started working on the more technical aspects of the mod. In 2014, Zilav and Monocleus managed to provide a stable base game for others to work with and help with the development. Around this time Rebelzize joined the project handling the PR, this was when the development and general interest about the project started to drastically increase.
More devs joined which resulted in the 0.3 DEV release which included new flora by 3AMt, FaceGen and a lot of fixes that made working on the mod a lot easier. In the month of November 2016, Rebelzize started to send out invites on “Nexusmods” in the hope of more volunteers. More people joined and not much later the ‘’Skyblivion – Return To Cyrodiil’’ trailer was published (with well over 1.100.000 views currently) resulting into an influx of new volunteers.
These new volunteers along with the core staff are currently developing the mod and making progress on a daily basis.

Yes! You can join our Discord server here: Skyblivion Community Server

When will the mod be released?
The Skyblivion team are aiming for a release in 2025. Currently we have been experiencing a steady level of activity in several key sectors that has benefited the project immensely.
What are the requirements to run Skyblivion?
In order to play Skyblivion you will need to own a legitimate copy of Oblivion GOTY Deluxe (ALL DLC) and Skyrim: Special Edition. Our installer will not install the mod unless it can find a non-cracked copy of the original games.
Will it be on both Skyrim and Skyrim: Special Edition?
Skyblivion is currently being developed for Skyrim: Special Edition only, So the answer at this time is no.
Will Skyblivion be released on consoles?
No. We can’t make it fit on consoles due to the overall size. Also there’s no SKSE on consoles, which we need in order to bring everyone the best possible experience.
Will the mod include underwater combat?
Underwater combat is currently being worked on and implemented in to the game.
Will combat and lockpicking be the same?
Lockpicking has now been implemented, You can see the lockpicking mini-game in action in our fifth Developer Diary here: Developer Diary 5. Combat will be the same except the addition of underwater combat.
Will you add all the Oblivion creatures?
Yes, all creature models will be recreated. As of 2024 all of the creatures from Oblivion have been remade and are now in the game. We have even added some additional ones.
Will you add Oblivion’s spellmaking system?
We are trying our best to bring this feature back but its proven to be harder than expected. We have a version currently in the game but we expect this to change a lot before release.
Will you add Oblivion’s Create-A-Class system?
It’s a big part of Oblivion’s core mechanic which we have now implemented in to the Skyrim: Special Edition Engine. You can see the the Create-A-Class system in action in our fifth Developer Diary here: Developer Diary 5.
How will we play Skyblivion?
Skyblivion will work the same as most other complete overhaul mods. Simply install the mod via the installer and press play.
Will Skyblivion support other languages?
Skyblivion will only support the English language. At this time there are no plans to release Skyblivion in other languages. However Oblivion has been translated into many voice languages over the years and since we are not re-writing the entire game and all its quests these voice translations will work just fine with our mod.
Will you be able to travel between Skyrim, Cyrodiil?
Unfortunately not due to this being a total conversion mod of Bethesda Softworks’ The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition.
How performance heavy will Skyblivion be?
Because we aim to make a worthy remaster our models will be higher quality than those in vanilla Skyrim and our textures are up to 4K in resolution. Performance is still very important to us so we will try our best to optimize the mod to the best of our abilities. If you can run the base version of Skyrim: Special Edition on ultra settings you should be able to run Skyblivion just fine.
Will Skyblivion include all original quests?
Yes, all quests from Oblivion will be included in the mod. (you might even find a few new ones)
Will Skyblivion have any custom content?
Yes, we are restoring some of the content cut from the original game where we can and find the time too. Additionally we are also going to be adding content that can be found in Tamriels expansive lore. A good example would be the lost city of Sutch which was located between Anvil and Kvatch which has been expanded upon compared to the original game.
How can I support you with donations?
We don’t take donations but we do participate in charity streams to do some good in the world.
How can I check Skywind’s progress?
Yes, Visit their homepage here.
Will Skyblivion be affected by the Creation Club?
No as this will be released as a free mod for Skyrim: Special Edition.
Will we release a Skyblivion demo of a small part of our project?
No. There are a multitude of reasons for this so just trust us when we say this is not possible.
